Women in Surety: Executive Leaders Virtual Panel Discussion

The Surety Association of Canada is pleased to present a virtual panel discussion featuring senior surety executive women leaders who have been invited to share their personal insight, career experience and advice for women who are seeking to grow their careers in the surety industry.

Join us on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 for a meet-and-greet in our virtual networking area at 2:00 PM (EDT) followed by the virtual panel discussion at 2:30 PM (EDT).


About the Panelists:

Donna Anderson
Vice President, Surety
Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company, Calgary, AB

Donna fell into the surety industry by mistake back in 1974 working for a surety company in Regina doing administrative duties. She then moved from Regina to Vancouver in 1976 where she transitioned into an underwriting role for an MGA. She obtained her Certified General Accountant designation in 1986 and after 22 years in Vancouver, she moved to Winnipeg for 5 years and then on to Calgary in 2003 joining Trisura Guarantee in 2006.  Over the past 15 years at Trisura, she has helped the firm grow their surety practice and is an active participant on SAC's Prairie Regional Committee.

 

Niki Jalali
Vice President, Surety
Intact Insurance - Surety, Vancouver, BC

Niki leads the Intact contract surety team in B.C. and is responsible for the largest and most diversified portfolio of contract surety accounts in the province. She started her surety career as a financial analyst in 2009. Through the years, Niki has held various underwriting and leadership roles with increasing complexity, authority, and responsibility, in addition to handling two large corporate M&As. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Finance from the Sauder School of Business at UBC, as well as a Master of International Business from Hult International Business School in San Francisco, where she graduated at the top of her class. She is also a proud A.C.S.B. designation holder and supporter of SAC locally and nationally.

 

Sheila E. Thompson
President
Rosenberg & Parker of Canada, Toronto, ON

With over 35 years' experience as an underwriter and as a broker, Sheila oversees client and surety relations and is responsible for the operations of Rosenberg & Parker of Canada. In addition to being a past Director and Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC), Sheila is a member of the Toronto Construction Association (TCA), National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), The Risk and Insurance Management Society of Canada (RIMS Canada) as well as various construction associations. She is the past chair of SAC's Ontario and Education Committees and currently sits on the Ontario Regional Committee. She is the only broker representative on the Canadian Construction Documents Committee's (CCDC) Surety Subcommittee and has participated in a number of SAC's taskforces on bond wordings. Sheila graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree and has her Principal Broker's license with the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO).

  • Full Members: $35.00 per person
  • Affiliate Members: $55.00 per person

While this session is being arranged for women in surety, any direct employees of SAC member firms are welcome to register to attend.

Registrants are encouraged to submit any questions that they may have for the panelists upon registration.
